Brazilian and US Presidents agree on biofuels

Heralding a push to to develop biofuels, President George W. Bush and Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, agreed on Friday to share technology to develop alternative fuels and reduce reliance on oil imports from Venezuela.

Brazilian politician indicted in New York

After money was moved to a New York Bank, Paulo Maluf, the former mayor of São Paulo and currently the leader of a rightist party in Brazil’s Congress, was indicted on a charge of taking part in a scheme to falsify contractor invoices to contractors involved in building Avenida Agua Espraiada, a giant highway in São Paulo.

President tells Brazilians to respect women
